Why I Love Engineered Hardwood

When we first moved into our Niagara-on-the-Lake home, there were about five or six different types of flooring throughout the house, which made me dizzy! Since the renovation involved making the house open concept, I wanted one, consistent flooring throughout, even in the kitchen.

I went with engineered hardwood from PurParket in Character Bisque - which is a European White Oak and has a natural matte finish. Engineered hardwood IS wood flooring. It’s a thin layer of hardwood on top of a different wood. So you get that feel of a real hardwood, but for a better price point.

PurParket EXCEEDED my expectations. Here are the main reasons why:

Canadian-made: Who doesn’t want to support a Canadian company?

Sustainable: We made as many eco choices as we could with the renovation. PurParket has very low VOCs - which essentially means less chemicals - so it’s not only good for the environment, but also a healthier choice for homeowners.

Beautiful: They had the PERFECT colours, including a natural matte finish, which I really wanted.

Scratch resistant: Although you do have to be careful with water just like you do with real hardwood, scratches can be fixed easier which is a huge plus. Scratches and dents happen SO easily on hardwood, so minimizing this was a big one for me!
