The Beginning of Our Renovation – Demo Day!

Ok, moving along….things really started to get real when our first disposal bin was delivered from Cotton. Although we were excited for demolition to start, we wanted to be conscious of putting as little into the landfill as possible. We were happy that Cotton is a company that is aware of the impact projects like this can have on the environment and are always looking for ways to divert as much waste from the landfill, as possible.

Demo Day! So exciting, so scary, so exciting!!!! Now, more than ever, it is important to support local. So, we hired a local company called The Project Guys. They are a couple of young guys just starting out and if their enthusiasm and professionalism are any indication of what their future holds, The Project Guys are going to do very well.

Getting back to keeping out as much material as possible from the landfill, our project manager and The Project Guys did a fantastic job of identifying and setting aside many items, which will be donated to Habitat for Humanity. Things like sinks, toilets, bathtubs, kitchen cabinets, countertops, windows, doors etc. all going to new homes. We were able to make a few bucks selling some of our older appliances, which we put toward some of the renovation costs. It’s not much, but every bit helps.

We also saved a bunch of trim for one of my local Instagram followers who was doing some repairs to their home. They wanted to match the trim with the rest of their home and spied our trim from one of my recent posts and asked if they could have it. We were happy to oblige.

Check out the video below of the Cityline segment where I lay out the floor plans, talk about renovation challenges we’re experiencing in the Covid-19 era and about responsible disposal of demolition materials.

That’s it for now, Things are really starting to move along, I hope you enjoy following along, as much as we like having you. Have a great day everyone. See you next time at the house.
