The Before – A Whole House Walk Through

Ready, Set, GO!

After three, long, arduous years of planning, changing designers, contractors, project managers etc., we are finally at the starting line and have begun the long awaited renovation of our home.

Everything really started coming together when we began working with the team from Nauta Home Designs. They listened to our ideas of what we envisioned for the project and took a genuine interest in wanting our vision to come to life.

Now, our initial vision of this renovation was much grander than what we decided to do. Not only were our ideas pushing our bank accounts, but Covid-19 really did a job on the price of construction materials. On to plan B. Nonetheless, we know we are going to have a home that suits our taste and will be an inviting, warm place to host and entertain our friends and family. We are actually excited that things changed a bit! It is so clear to us that things always happen for a reason.

So, what transformations are we making to our home? Well, there is a laundry list of changes we are making to this mid-70’s, split level home. Stay with me, as a spectacular, cozy eat in country kitchen is created from the former kitchen, dining room and living room. The family room will be expanded by taking out a wall to create a great space for family to gather around the updated fireplace. The ugly ducking will have nothing on our bathrooms as they blossom from the tired and dated into a sparkling oasis of beauty. The laundry room will be a place where we will REALLY enjoy doing laundry! The outside will be freshened up to include covered porches along the front and back to enjoy the fresh country air and views of the vineyard with glass of wine. The whole décor and feel of this renovation will be a modern farmhouse style, embracing wine country, with a nod to Greg’s east coast roots. In all, we expect that the renovation will take about 6 months to complete.

As we go, I’ll be posting regular updates to my Instagram and Facebook. As well, Cityline will be following along chronicling each stage of the renovation in upcoming episodes. The first Cityline segment airs on Wednesday, November 4, 2020. See the plan and demo day!

So, I invite you to join us on this journey. We’ll be glad to have you come along for the ride.

Before you go, check out the below video as I walk you though the house, pre-renovation, to explain what is being done.
