Vinyl Siding: Sustainable AND Beautiful

Hey there!

Can you believe this before and after?? One of the goals with this home renovation was to make it complement the beautiful vineyard, which surrounds the property. The old brown brick exterior didn’t check that box for us and I wanted to have a home that projected that clean, modern farmhouse feel.

I knew I wanted to have a home with a white board and batten exterior; a quintessential, timeless farmhouse look. To achieve this, I went to Royal Building Products. I was really happy with their selection and quality and loved that I didn’t have to sacrifice style over durability and function. Plus, they are a Canadian company!

While Greg has grown up living in homes with siding, I had never really had much exposure to it. But, after doing my research and considering what Royal Building Products had to offer, I felt really good about the decision to install vinyl siding. So, why did I choose to go with Royal Building Products' board and batten siding?

  1. It has a super realistic wood look

  2. We will never have to paint it

  3. It can withstand the elements - snow, rain and wind…..we get a lot of wind here

  4. Easy to clean….Greg will be giddy that he’ll be able to use his power washer more (insert happy face)!

This was also an eco-friendly choice when it came to installation which was so important to me. I made as many sustainable choices in this renovation as possible. Instead of removing the old brick and putting it into a landfill, our installers strapped the exterior brick with 1x4 boards and placed the siding over top. It also helped our budget, as waste removal is all charged by weight!

Thanks again for following along on the reno journey. I love sharing it with you! I hope you get enjoyment and inspiration to follow your own renovation goals :).
